Denver TV Covers Our Letter to Governor

New I-25 Opportunity

This week we requested that the Governor seize the opportunity presented by a brand new Federal government Executive Order to accelerate the completion of I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock.  Here's a Denver TV station's spin on the new opportunity we have to relieve the danger and delays that I-25 presents today.

House Committee Approves Tool to Fight Human Trafficking

We got our first legislative win this week.  HB17-1040 unanimously passed the House Judiciary Committee Tuesday and is set for its second reading on the House Floor early next week.  This is an important step in fighting human trafficking which is one of the fastest growing criminal efforts in America.

Currently law enforcement officials are not allowed to get wiretaps for human trafficking investigations.  This bill will add human trafficking to the list of crimes, which currently includes drug trafficking, for which law enforcement may apply to the courts for a wiretap.  If the bill becomes a law, a judge after due process, may issue an ex party order authorizing the interception of certain communications if there is probable cause to believe there is sufficient evidence of a crime.

This bill is necessary because many child victims of human trafficking are afraid or unable to testify.
