Come to Denver This Week to Testify on the Methadone Dispensary Bill
This week House Bill 16-1068 will be heard in the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs committee. We introduced the bill to help protect the people of Colorado from the risks and dangers that methadone dispensaries may present.
The bill does so by clarifying the difference between a medical clinic and a methadone dispensary. It also provides distance protections separating dispensaries from schools, parks and other sensitive community locations. It also toughens up the licensing process. It would require, in the licensing process, the Colorado Department of Human Services to consider infractions or problems that license applicants or related entities have had in other states. This legislation will help protect the people of communities like Monument.
Come and testify. Tell your story of why Downtown Monument is the wrong location.
Hearing Time and Location. Wednesday the 27th "upon adjournment of the House," which means probably about 10:00 or 10:30am. The hearing room is across the street, south of the Capitol in the Legislative Services Building, 200 East 14th Ave, Denver, CO 80203. The hearing room is up the stairs and to the left as you enter the building.
